NAS JAX “NO DOUGH” DINNER- WEDNESDAY, MAY 20TH

Wednesday, May 20th from 5:00PM-7:00PM, the NAS JAX USO Center will host a “No Dough Dinner” at FRA #91 located at 5391 Collins Road. This is free for Active Duty, National Guard, and their dependents. The wonderful staff and volunteers will serve pizzas, salad, and dessert. Thank you “Mandarin/St. Johns Elks Lodge #2866” for sponsoring this dinner.

NAS JAX BLOOD DRIVE THURSDAY, MAY 21ST

Blood Mobile will be parked in the parking lot of Building 966 (NOSC) in the far corner, across from McDonald’s at the corner of Saratoga and Ajax Streets on Thursday, May 21st from 9:00AM-1:00PM.  For more information, contact heather.bazhenow@navy.mil.

Tuesday, May 26TH from 5:00PM-7:00PM, the Mayport USO Center will host a “No Dough Dinner”. This is free for Active Duty Service Members and their immediate families. The wonderful staff and volunteers will serve pork tenderloin, garlic and herb potatoes, broccoli, rolls, and salad. Thank you to the “Mandarin Rotary Club” for sponsoring this meal. 

MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT AT ADVENTURE LANDING WRISTBANDS ON SALE NOW WHILE SUPPLIES LAST

Wristbands for the annual USO night at Adventure Landing (Jacksonville Beach) sponsored by VyStar Credit Union are still available at the NAS Jax and MAYPORT USO offices and the KINGS BAY ITT office. Wristbands are $3.00 each/cash only. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 27TH from 6:00-11:00pm. TICKETS ARE OPEN TO ACTIVE DUTY, NATIONAL GUARD, RESERVISTS, MILITARY RETIREES, GOLD STAR FAMILIES, AND DEPENDENTS. This event will sell out. Don’t wait to buy your wristbands.

JACKSONVILLE SUNS 2015 BASEBALL SEASON SEE ATTACHED SCHEDULE

Once again, the Jacksonville Suns AA Baseball Organization (Florida Marlins Affiliate) has teamed with your Greater Jacksonville Area USO for the 2015 season.  With the support of BOEING, we have purchased 18 tickets (1st Base Side, Lower Level) for each home game during this year’s 70-game season.  The intent of these free tickets is for use as a command social, evenly spread out throughout all ranks, with the hope of fostering unity and morale.   See attached schedule and below procedures for submitting a command/unit “Block Request” for a particular game.      

Procedures for requesting a Game Day Block of 18 tickets: 

Requests for a command/unit block may be submitted via email to lquinn@usojax.com (NAS JAX) or pam@usojax.com (Mayport) by CO/OIC, XO and CMC/SEA onlyIn the event a command/unit is on an extended deployment overseas (3 months or longer) a Command Ombudsman or FRG President may submit a block request for a spouse social.  With each block request, please provide 2 dates for a game your group would like to see.  We will review block reservations to ensure another unit/command has not already reserved that particular date.  If there are any conflicts, Greater Jacksonville Area USO will contact the command/unit POC to propose alternate date(s). 

Information required on your email Block Request:  Requestor (rank/name, command/unit spelled out), military installation (Kings Bay, Mayport, etc.), primary and alternate game date(s) requested, Command/Spouse Group Point of Contact, phone/email info.  Greater Jacksonville Area USO will notify commands/units soonest for planning purposes, but no later than two weeks prior to the game.

Harris Teeter, 4800 First Coast Highway, Fernandina Beach will be holding a donation campaign from May 1 – May 31, 2015, giving customers the opportunity to donate $1.00, $3,00, or $5.00 to their Greater Jacksonville Area USO at the cash register.  Funds raised will help your Greater Jacksonville Area USO continue our support of our area military and families.  This is the fourth year in a row Harris Teeter has supported our troops in this way and we hope to make 2015 an even greater success!  If you live within a reasonable distance from Harris Teeter in Fernandina Beach, feel free to stop in, shop, and help support our local troops and families.

The Rebecca Foundation’s Cloth Diaper Closet provides reusable cloth diapers for Active Duty, Reservists, and Veteran families in need stationed here and abroad. MAYPORT BLOOD DRIVE- TUESDAY, APRIL 28TH

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at the Mayport Naval Station on April 28th, 2015, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The drive will be held in the Building #1 training room, off of Massey Avenue. Volunteers may either sign up for a time slot at redcrossblood.org with sponsor code “mns” or they may simply walk in.

NAS JAX “NO DOUGH” DINNER- WEDNESDAY, APRIL 29TH

Wednesday, April 29th from 5:00PM-7:00PM, the NAS JAX USO Center will host a “No Dough Dinner” at FRA #91 located at 5391 Collins Road. The veterans resource and career fair hosted by VetReady will be held on Wednesday, April 29th from 11:00AM-2:00PM at the Hilton Garden Inn located at 13503 Ranch Road. JACKSONVILLE SUNS 2015 BASEBALL SEASON- SEE ATTACHED SCHEDULE

Once again, the Jacksonville Suns AA Baseball Organization (Florida Marlins Affiliate) has teamed with your Greater Jacksonville Area USO for the 2015 season.  With the support of BOEING, we have purchased 18 tickets (1st Base Side, Lower Level) for each home game during this year’s 70-game season.  The intent of these free tickets is for use as a command social, evenly spread out throughout all ranks, with the hope of fostering unity and morale.   See attached schedule and below procedures for submitting a command/unit “Block Request” for a particular game.      

Procedures for requesting a Game Day Block of 18 tickets: 

Requests for a command/unit block may be submitted via email to lquinn@usojax.com (NAS JAX) or pam@usojax.com (Mayport) by CO/OIC, XO and CMC/SEA onlyIn the event a command/unit is on an extended deployment overseas (3 months or longer) a Command Ombudsman or FRG President may submit a block request for a spouse social.  With each block request, please provide 2 dates for a game your group would like to see.  We will review block reservations to ensure another unit/command has not already reserved that particular date.  If there are any conflicts, Greater Jacksonville Area USO will contact the command/unit POC to propose alternate date(s). 

Information required on your email Block Request:  Requestor (rank/name, command/unit spelled out), military installation (Kings Bay, Mayport, etc.), primary and alternate game date(s) requested, Command/Spouse Group Point of Contact, phone/email info.  Greater Jacksonville Area USO will notify commands/units soonest for planning purposes, but no later than two weeks prior to the game.

  1. Can anyone request these tickets?
  • NO only the CO/OIC, XO and CMC/SEA only by email lquinn@usojax.com or pam@usojax.com to request command blocks. These are not for individuals, only for commands.
  1. Can a command request only a few of the tickets?
  • NO there are 18 tickets for each game that are handed out to the command that requested the tickets. You must take all 18 tickets.
  1. How far in advance can we request a game?
  • As soon as possible. We are receiving requests daily so the sooner you can get your request in the better.
  1. Is there a cost for these tickets?
  • NO they are FREE for commands; we are working hard for you!

MAYPORT USO “NO DOUGH DINNER” – MONDAY, APRIL 27TH     

Monday, April 27TH from 5:00PM-7:00PM, the Mayport USO Center will host a “No Dough Dinner”. This is free for Active Duty Service Members and their immediate families. The wonderful staff and volunteers will serve a jambalya bar, corn bread, salad bar, and dessert. Thank you to the “Balfour Beatty” for sponsoring this meal.

MAYPORT BLOOD DRIVE- TUESDAY, APRIL 28TH

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at the Mayport Naval Station on April 28th, 2015, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The drive will be held in the Building #1 training room, off of Massey Avenue. Volunteers may either sign up for a time slot at redcrossblood.org with sponsor code “mns” or they may simply walk in.

Our goal is clear: to team with America’s communities to provide support to the children and youth of families impacted by deployments. As part of OMK, the Florida 4-H Military Program supports the “suddenly military” families right here in Florida before, during and after parents are deployed. Focus is on the National Guard and Reserve members who are isolated from a military installation, but the program has been expanded to encompass all branches of service and the active duty families as well. DARKNESS to LIGHT- FREE TRAINING

The Northeast Florida D2L Stewards of Children Coalition’s purpose is to decrease childhood sexual abuse in Northeast Florida by building a preventative movement that overwhelms the size of the problem, empowering an unprecedented number of people with the skills and knowledge to protect children through completing the Darkness to Light (D2L) Stewards of Children child sexual abuse prevention training. For a limited time, the YMCA of Florida’s First Coast is able to offer the D2L Stewards of Children online child sex abuse prevention training FREE for our community. MAYPORT USO “NO DOUGH DINNER” – MONDAY, MARCH 30TH     

Monday, March 30TH from 5:00PM-7:00PM, the Mayport USO Center will host a “No Dough Dinner”. This is free for Active Duty Service Members and their immediate families. The wonderful staff and volunteers will serve sloppy jo sandwiches, baked beans, coleslaw/salad bar, macaroni and cheese, and dessert. Thank you to the “NAVY LEAGUE” for sponsoring this meal. 

DARKNESS to LIGHT- FREE TRAINING

The Northeast Florida D2L Stewards of Children Coalition’s purpose is to decrease childhood sexual abuse in Northeast Florida by building a preventative movement that overwhelms the size of the problem, empowering an unprecedented number of people with the skills and knowledge to protect children through completing the Darkness to Light (D2L) Stewards of Children child sexual abuse prevention training. For a limited time, the YMCA of Florida’s First Coast is able to offer the D2L Stewards of Children online child sex abuse prevention training FREE for our community. JACKSONVILLE SUNS 2015 BASEBALL SEASON- OPENING SEASON GAME APRIL 9TH-SEE ATTACHED SCHEDULE

Once again, the Jacksonville Suns AA Baseball Organization (Florida Marlins Affiliate) has teamed with your Greater Jacksonville Area USO for the 2015 season.  With the support of BOEING, we have purchased 18 tickets (1st Base Side, Lower Level) for each home game during this year’s 70-game season.  The intent of these free tickets is for use as a command social, evenly spread out throughout all ranks, with the hope of fostering unity and morale.   See attached schedule and below procedures for submitting a command/unit “Block Request” for a particular game.      

Procedures for requesting a Game Day Block of 18 tickets: 

Requests for a command/unit block may be submitted via email to lquinn@usojax.com (NAS JAX) or pam@usojax.com (Mayport) by CO/OIC, XO and CMC/SEA onlyIn the event a command/unit is on an extended deployment overseas (3 months or longer) a Command Ombudsman or FRG President may submit a block request for a spouse social.  With each block request, please provide 2 dates for a game your group would like to see.  We will review block reservations to ensure another unit/command has not already reserved that particular date.  If there are any conflicts, Greater Jacksonville Area USO will contact the command/unit POC to propose alternate date(s). 

Information required on your email Block Request:  Requestor (rank/name, command/unit spelled out), military installation (Kings Bay, Mayport, etc.), primary and alternate game date(s) requested, Command/Spouse Group Point of Contact, phone/email info.  Greater Jacksonville Area USO will notify commands/units soonest for planning purposes, but no later than two weeks prior to the game.

OPERATION MILITARY KIDS SUMMER CAMPS- REGISTRATION OPENING SOON

Operation: Military Kids is a nationwide program began by the U.S. Army. Our goal is clear: to team with America’s communities to provide support to the children and youth of families impacted by deployments. As part of OMK, the Florida 4-H Military Program supports the “suddenly military” families right here in Florida before, during and after parents are deployed. Focus is on the National Guard and Reserve members who are isolated from a military installation, but the program has been expanded to encompass all branches of service and the active duty families as well. DEFY LEADERSHIP TRAINING- JUNE 7TH-12TH

Drug Education for Youth is a nationwide program sponsored by the DOD. The program teaches leadership and teamwork skills, builds self-esteem, drug awareness and prevention for 9-12year olds. ORLANDO PREDATORS TICKETS- MARCH 29TH

The Orlando Predators are offering 1,000 pairs of free tickets to military, retired military, guard, reserve and veterans. The tickets are for the March 29th game against Philadelphia in the Orlando Amway Center. The game will be televised live on ESPN. There will be a special tribute to the military. USO Central Florida in partnership with the Predators will highlight an Orlando area veteran for special recognition at the game. Learn to play tennis from the pros! Individuals of all ages and playing abilities and physical abilities are welcome to come learn all aspects of the game of tennis from former tour players and certified teaching professionals. On Friday, there will be a special clinic for wounded, ill, and injured, and Saturday, the youth and adult clinic will be held This event is FREE. 5TH ANNUAL TIM TEBOW CELEBRITY GOLF CLASSIC- FREE TICKETS

The Mayport and NAS Jax USO offices have a limited number of free tickets to the 5th Annual Tim Tebow Celebrity Golf Classic available. The tournament will be held on Saturday, March 14th at TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course. Parking lots open at 8:45AM with a 10:00AM shotgun start. Tickets are open to Active Duty, Retirees, National Guard, Reservists, and dependents.

MAYPORT USO “NO DOUGH DINNER” – MONDAY, MARCH 9TH   

Monday, March 9th from 5:00PM-7:00PM, the Mayport USO Center will host a “No Dough Dinner”. This is free for Active Duty Service Members and their immediate families. The wonderful staff and volunteers will serve chicken enchiladas, rice, beans, salad, and dessert. Thank you to “The Plantations” for sponsoring this dinner in honor of Jim Gaff.

DARKNESS to LIGHT- FREE TRAINING

The Northeast Florida D2L Stewards of Children Coalition’s purpose is to decrease childhood sexual abuse in Northeast Florida by building a preventative movement that overwhelms the size of the problem, empowering an unprecedented number of people with the skills and knowledge to protect children through completing the Darkness to Light (D2L) Stewards of Children child sexual abuse prevention training. For a limited time, the YMCA of Florida’s First Coast is able to offer the D2L Stewards of Children online child sex abuse prevention training FREE for our community. NAS JAX “NO DOUGH” DINNER- WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25TH

Wednesday, March 25th from 5:00PM-7:00PM, the NAS JAX USO Center will host a “No Dough Dinner” at FRA #91 located at 5391 Collins Road. This is free for Active Duty, National Guard, and their immediate families. The wonderful staff and volunteers will serve meatloaf, loaded mashed cauliflower, mixed vegetables, and dessert. Thank you “Mandarin/St. Johns Elks Lodge #2866” for sponsoring this dinner.

The Orlando Predators are offering 1,000 pairs of free tickets to military, retired military, guard, reserve and veterans. The tickets are for the March 29th game against Philadelphia in the Orlando Amway Center. The game will be televised live on ESPN. There will be a special tribute to the military. USO Central Florida in partnership with the Predators will highlight an Orlando area veteran for special recognition at the game. JACKSONVILLE SUNS 2015 BASEBALL SEASON- OPENING SEASON GAME APRIL 9TH-SEE ATTACHED SCHEDULE

Once again, the Jacksonville Suns AA Baseball Organization (Florida Marlins Affiliate) has teamed with your Greater Jacksonville Area USO for the 2015 season.  With the support of BOEING, we have purchased 18 tickets (1st Base Side, Lower Level) for each home game during this year’s 70-game season.  The intent of these free tickets is for use as a command social, evenly spread out throughout all ranks, with the hope of fostering unity and morale.   See attached schedule and below procedures for submitting a command/unit “Block Request” for a particular game.      

Procedures for requesting a Game Day Block of 18 tickets: 

Requests for a command/unit block may be submitted via email to lquinn@usojax.com (NAS JAX) or pam@usojax.com (Mayport) by CO/OIC, XO and CMC/SEA onlyIn the event a command/unit is on an extended deployment overseas (3 months or longer) a Command Ombudsman or FRG President may submit a block request for a spouse social.  With each block request, please provide 2 dates for a game your group would like to see.  We will review block reservations to ensure another unit/command has not already reserved that particular date.  If there are any conflicts, Greater Jacksonville Area USO will contact the command/unit POC to propose alternate date(s). 

Information required on your email Block Request:  Requestor (rank/name, command/unit spelled out), military installation (Kings Bay, Mayport, etc.), primary and alternate game date(s) requested, Command/Spouse Group Point of Contact, phone/email info.  Greater Jacksonville Area USO will notify commands/units soonest for planning purposes, but no later than two weeks prior to the game. 

FAQ’S

  1. Can anyone request these tickets?
  • NO only the CO/OIC, XO and CMC/SEA only by email lquinn@usojax.com or pam@usojax.com to request command blocks. These are not for individuals, only for commands.
  1. Can a command request only a few of the tickets?
  • NO there are 18 tickets for each game that are handed out to the command that requested the tickets. You must take all 18 tickets.
  1. How far in advance can we request a game?
  • As soon as possible. We are receiving requests daily so the sooner you can get your request in the better.
  1. Is there a cost for these tickets?
  • NO they are FREE for commands; we are working hard for you!

BLUE SKY FOUNDATION’S T3 PROGRAM- MARCH 27TH-28TH

Learn to play tennis from the pros! Individuals of all ages and playing abilities and physical abilities are welcome to come learn all aspects of the game of tennis from former tour players and certified teaching professionals. On Friday, there will be a special clinic for wounded, ill, and injured, and Saturday, the youth and adult clinic will be held This event is FREE. Participation is limited to military ID cardholders and their families. See attached flyer for more information.
